Introducing the Columbia Canuk Titanium Omni-Heat OutDry Extreme

When we looked at how hiker’s can get themselves ready for autumn/winter, we covered a lot of ground.

Weekend rambler or mountain scrambler, you’re going to need to think about preparation and be smart as you head out on the trail this season.

But what about gear?

If you’re not properly protected from the elements, you’re going to leave yourself vulnerable to downpours, cold snaps and sudden slips — and your footwear plays a big role in keeping you warm, dry, and upright…

“Ultra warm and absolutely waterproof”

The Canuk™ Titanium Omni-Heat™ OutDry boot may be a bit of a mouthful, but it puts an ingenious spin on the traditional hiking boot blueprint.

Columbia’s innovative technology collaboration brings together waterproofing, dynamic insulation and breathability, for both superior protection and a tongue-twister of a name.

Combining premium features into one shoe, they’ve created a lightweight hiking boot that’s designed to outlast winter and improve the overall hiking experience.

Let’s take a closer look at its key features…

Omni-Heat™ Reflective

The Columbia Canuk boot comes fitted with a striking thermal-reflective lining to keep feet warm and breathable in temperatures a low as -65F/54C!

This technology draws — or wicks — moisture away, meaning it evaporates quicker for added dryness and comfort. While the little silver dots along the lining reflect body heat to retain the warmth your body generates.

Together, these key elements eliminate the need for bulky layers that only bring added weight.

OutDry™ Extreme

Made for pretty much any climate you could choose to pit it against, Columbia’s rugged winter boot uses OutDry™ Extreme technology for an invincible feel.

The Canuk’s exterior waterproof membrane brings a different dimension to the shoe’s resilient nature and design.  An external membrane means no water can enter the shoe and provides a visible, durable waterproof solution for extreme conditions. So the shoe stays dry, and you do too.

Techlite™ midsole

At the heart of the Columbia Canuk is its Techlite™ midsole.

Built for ‘responsive cushioning’, this feature is all about impact protection and high energy return. Comfort is paramount during long hikes; this midsole delivers advanced cushioning out-of-the-box for immediate and long-lasting impact.

It’s incredibly lightweight too!

Techlite™ really is the modern hiker’s trifecta of long-lasting comfort, power and control trail performance and superior cushioning.

Michelin Ice Control Technology

For Columbia and Michelin, fusing this innovative mid and upper with an equally progressive outsole was the only thing that made sense.

The Canuk takes inspiration from the Michelin Agilis Alpin winter tire. Balancing a robust rubber with a flexible tread design, the outsole delivers superior ground control and traction on everything from slippery ice to hard-packed snow.

Michelin’s Ice Control Technology gives the wearer superb grip in even the toughest sub-zero conditions. With enlarged lugs for unbeatable stability and good abrasion resistance on all surfaces, this timely collaboration will really get you places.
