Introducing the Under Armour ColdGear® HOVR™ Reactor

Running in winter can be a full on battle.

Those balmy summer runs are ancient history. Now for the real test. Going against the elements to maintain peak performance. The big chill is here, but don’t let the cold slow you down.

When winter bites, bite back.

The HOVR™ Reactor has joined Under Armour’s ColdGear® Reactor collection ready for the AW season. Come those frosty mornings and blustery evenings that bite hard, this lightweight road running shoe is made to give you everything you need to beat the cold.

Under Armour ColdGear HOVR Reactor

REACTING WITH YOUR BODY

Because no two runs are ever quite the same. This shoe’s ColdGear® fabric adapts to your activity to deliver optimum breathability and warmth for whatever you’re doing.

Long runs, base runs, recovery runs, progression runs and HIIT training all ask for different levels of intensity, and the HOVR™ ColdGear® Reactor knows it.

It’s why Under Armour’s insulation technology reacts with your body to regulate temperature, warming your feet when you slow down, and ditching the heat at a rapid rate when you get up to speed.

And if you get caught in a downpour? Under Armour Storm technology repels water without sacrificing breathability, so you stay warm and dry.

ZERO GRAVITY

There is no compromise here. The midsole uses foam cushioning to give runners ultimate responsiveness, while firm external heel support locks the foot into place.

Exclusive HOVR™ technology leaves you with that ‘zero gravity feel’ you get from efficient energy return and impact reduction. And it’s this weightlessness that’s compounded by what Under Armour call Energy Web.

The shoe’s fabric is contained in the compression mesh Web, which moulds the foam in the shoe as you run, recharging the shoe with the energy you put in to power your movement and propel you forward.

INNOVATIVE GROUND CONTACT

The release also sees Under Armour hook up with Michelin again.

HOVR™ ColdGear® Reactor features a durable all-weather MICHELIN outsole that refuses to sacrifice performance in cold conditions.

This is Michelin’s first step into road running, and boasts similar benefits to those found in their cross-climate tires, giving you relentless grip on wet and ice. The outsole takes inspiration from the Michelin S1 motorbike tire, which has a special tread pattern designed for mud with tall, sharp, widely spaced knobs to increase ground contact patch and penetrate deep mud easily”.

CONNECT AND TRACK

Want to track your progress? Under Armour have released a connected version of the HOVR™ ColdGear® Reactor that uses a small chip to link directly with MapMyRun, so you can track everything from pace to stride length, and even get virtual coaching!

The shoe is available in a classic low style, and a mid fit that features a snug bootie-like ankle collar to help trap warmth, increase support and keep out mud and rain.
